Denver Metro Area Retirees Chapter Meeting Minutes

July 12, 2014

President Scott Morrow called the meeting to order at 10:03AM.  11 members attended the meeting, plus Henry Barlow, a Candidate for the 43rd District (CO General Assembly) covering Highlands Ranch.  Secretary/Treasurer Lew Roman took the minutes.

President Morrow introduced the officers, and then gave Henry Barlow the floor. Among other subjects, Mr. Barlow gave us five points that he stressed:

           1) Improve public education

           2) Preserve the environment

           3) Economy needs to be more fair

           4) Health care - focus on prevention and cost

           5) Needs of the elderly/retired

He then took questions.

A motion to endorse Henry Barlow was passed unanimously.

Lew Roman read the minutes from the May 31, 2014 meeting and a motion to accept said minutes was unanimously approved.

Scott went over the three suggested changes to our Constitution & By-Laws and all three were unanimously approved with few questions.

Chapter Legislative Director Marty Wisniewski gave a Legislative Report.  He challenged us to work with/for any candidate for two hours in a month’s time.

Scott mentioned his petition regarding GMO’s and labeling and Alex Brown brought in a petition regarding Social Security.

The next meeting is scheduled at the DMAL Union hall on Aug 23, 2014 at 10:00 AM. 

Scott adjourned the meeting at 11:53AM.
