Not everyone is going to agree with our endorsements and that is okay.  The most important part of this whole process is for you to VOTE!!

We are awarding three prizes; the prizes depend on how many ballots are mailed in.  If 1200 ballots are turned in, $1200 will be split amongst the three names that will be drawn by the National Election Committee! Please encourage your fellow Union Members to VOTE!!

Please vote the APWU Members Unity Team!!  Most of these candidates are responsible for standing firm against management and getting the new Collective Bargaining Agreement settled!

Vote! Vote! Vote!

by Ron Malunat, Administrative Aide

Ballots are being mailed for our APWU National Officer Election on Tuesday, so you should receive them in the mail soon.  Please exercise your right to vote.  As in all types of elections, it is important to state your beliefs and support by casting your ballot.  It is also important for our local to show the national union that our members do care and are active.  In the last union election, we had a bad showing.  We can change that because it is easy to mail your ballot.

The candidates that your Executive Board has endorsed are also listed in the Mountaineer magazine, which is sent to your home.  These endorsements were made with serious debate and discussion from your Executive Board.  This is a good example of your officers working for you.  We know you don’t always have the time to research and interview all of the candidates. One of our main reasons for endorsing these people is that they negotiated our new contract.  It contains substantial gains and kept our COLA and no lay off clause.  They did a great job and we felt they should have another term.

I hope you also consider the time and thought put in by your Executive Board on these endorsements.  It wasn’t taken lightly and your union dues were well used.  The truth is that you have every right to expect that your Executive Board give our endorsements based on our knowledge and research of the candidates.  That responsibility was taken very seriously by your Executive Board, so please vote for these candidates.  The little amount of time it takes to fill out the ballot and bring it to work is well worth it.  It helps make your union stronger and improves your local union’s ability to get more for you. Please support your union by voting.

Endorsing Candidates

by Dave Suwalski, Director Maintenance Craft

Once again it's time for the APWU National Officer Election.  As the new Maintenance Craft Director, I have researched who would be the best National Business Agents for the Maintenance Craft.  After studying and researching, I have decided that I am endorsing Jimmie Waldon and Louis Kingsley.  You have the right to vote for whomever you would like to. It is your American right. In my opinion I think they are the best choices.  When I started this position, these two individuals were the ones that reached out to help me the most.  I have researched the other candidates and felt that my choice was the best and right decision.

I did notice the last time we voted for national officers, only one fourth of the eligible people voted.  Our numbers were pretty low.  You do not have to agree with me, but please exercise your right and vote! Feel free to call me on any candidates you would like to learn about or get any information on.  EXERCISE YOUR RIGHT AND VOTE!
